Zetkanja – Encounters
Chór Židźino – Seidewinkel
The work combines traditional and international folk songs in Sorbian and German, interpreted by the Židźino choir (Seidewinkel choir) under the direction of Kerstin Lieder. The result of decades of care and preservation of Sorbian songs, this collection reflects the cultural diversity and deep connection with the homeland. In addition to classic Sorbian songs, it also includes Slovakian and Moravian folk tunes as well as modern arrangements, including ‘In Dreams’ from ‘The Lord of the Rings’. Sensitive arrangements, some solo performances and careful instrumental accompaniment create a musical portrait of Sorbian culture that combines past and present. The recordings were made in Hoyerswerda in 2023 and 2024.
